Welcome to 28X! We’re 28X Ltd, a UK-based company. 

28X is a private, on-device app that helps you track your period and understand your cycle. 

Everyone’s body is different. Most people start their period between ages 10 and 16, sometimes earlier or later. You can use the app independently if you’re 16 or older. If you’re 13–16, we recommend using it with the knowledge and support of a parent or guardian. If you’re under 13, the app isn’t designed for you to use alone - you must use it with your parent or carer.

The app is not a medical device and doesn’t diagnose, monitor, prevent, treat or predict any health condition. It’s also not designed to help you get pregnant or avoid pregnancy. Always speak to a healthcare professional for personal medical advice.

28X never collects your personal data. Everything you enter stays safely on your device. No accounts, no ads, no tracking. You are responsible for managing, exporting, or backing up your information using your device’s own tools and settings.

Some optional visual extras (“Butterflies”) may be available for you to purchase. Payments are handled by Apple or Google, and we follow their refund policies.

Full Terms

By using our 28X Private Period app (the “app”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

1. Who we are

28X Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a UK-based company committed to privacy-first, inclusive design. Our app enables users to track their cycle and symptoms without any cloud-based storage or external data transmission. Data you provide including your cycle data remains private, on your device, and under your full control.

2. Who can use the app

You can use the app independently if you’re 16 or older. If you’re 13–16, we recommend using it with the knowledge and support of a parent or guardian. If you’re under 13, the app isn’t designed for you to use alone - you must use it with your parent or carer.

3. What the app is (and isn’t)

28X is a wellness app designed to help you track your menstrual cycle and understand your period patterns. It uses the information you enter — like your cycle length, flow and symptoms to give you insights and reminders about your menstrual health.   We don’t diagnose, monitor, prevent, treat  or predict any medical condition. We don’t help you get pregnant or avoid pregnancy.

Please don’t use the app to make medical decisions or change your treatment plan. Always speak to a qualified healthcare professional for personal medical advice.

4. Your responsibilities

By using the app, you confirm that:

  • You give accurate info (like your age or symptoms)
  • You’re using the app for personal, non-commercial use
  • You won’t try to hack, copy, reverse engineer, attempt to derive the source code, disassemble, scrape or misuse the app
  • You’ll use the app respectfully, follow the rules and not act in a way that’s illegal, offensive or infringes anyone’s rights.

Misusing the app may cause us harm and, if this happens, we reserve our rights to pursue this legally. 

5. Your data and your device

You don’t need to create an account and we don’t collect your personal data. Everything you enter is stored locally on your phone, not our servers. You can review our Privacy Policy in-app for full details on how data is processed by the app. The app uses your phone’s security features (like Face ID or fingerprint) to keep your data safe. 

You can permanently delete all 28X data stored on your device at any time by going to your device settings and selecting Delete Data (Delete Account). This action removes all app data stored locally on your device.

You’re responsible for managing and backing up your info. If you have enabled automatic device backups (such as iCloud or Google Drive), copies of app data may exist within those backups. These backups are managed entirely by your device provider and are outside of 28X’s control. To remove backed-up data, you must manage or delete it through your device’s backup settings.

You may take an electronic copy/print any screen from the app for you to refer to for your personal use, including a copy of these terms of use and the privacy notice. 

Any data or information that you may have stored on your phone remains your sole responsibility. We accept no liability for loss or corruption of such data howsoever caused. We are not responsible for the loss, recovery or compromise of data or information that you may have stored on your device. 

6. In-app purchases

Some optional extras, like visual customisations (“Butterflies”) may be available for you to purchase. These don’t affect how the app works and are purely cosmetic. All purchases are handled via Apple or Google. Prices may change and refunds are processed according to their terms, not by us. Please contact the relevant store for billing issues.

7. Intellectual property

All content in the app, the code, design, features, text and branding, belongs to us or our partners. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app only for personal use. Please don’t copy, sell or modify it.

If you choose to share suggestions with us (like via email or surveys), we may use them to improve the app but we won’t owe you payment or credit.

8. Third-party links & partners

We may link to other websites or show content from trusted partners. We’re not responsible for what happens if you visit or use them. We don’t sell your data or run ads.

9. Changes and availability

We may update, add or remove features at any time. Sometimes the app may be unavailable (for example, during maintenance or due to App Store or Google Play issues). 

We’re not liable for downtime or any changes. We may limit access to future versions of the app (or certain features) if we detect misuse or illegal activity, for example, through store updates or platform restrictions.

If you do not install updates to the app that we offer, this may affect your ability to use features on the app or the app itself. This includes updates that improve app performance, safety features, algorithms, or which may allow you to view new/improved health and wellbeing content.

10. Warranties

We provide the 28X app “as is” without any guarantees. You use the app at your own risk.

We don’t make promises that:

  • The app will be error-free or always available
  • It will meet your specific health needs or expectations
  • Any issues will be fixed right away
  • The app will work perfectly on every device or platform

We don’t make any hidden or implied promises about how the app will work, like whether it’s guaranteed to be flawless, suit every purpose or meet specific expectations unless your country’s laws require otherwise. 

To the fullest extent permissible pursuant to applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to, all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

28X isn’t a medical device and it’s not meant to diagnose, monitor, prevent treat or predict any medical condition. It also doesn’t help you get pregnant or avoid pregnancy. It’s designed to support your wellbeing through education, not to replace a healthcare professional or healthcare provider. If you notice changes in your health or have any concerns, always speak to a medical professional.

11. Limitation of liability

We’re not responsible for any losses or damages that result from your use of the app, especially things we can’t control — like lost data, missed reminders or content from third-party links.

We’re not liable for:

  • Any punitive, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages
  • Any health decisions made based on app content
  • Any injury, loss or issue related to how the app is used

If we’re found legally responsible, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the app, if anything. This doesn’t affect any rights you have under local consumer protection laws.

12. Indemnity

If you misuse the app in a way that causes harm to us, others or yourself you agree to cover any legal or financial consequences that arise. This includes things like breaking the law, violating someone’s rights or misusing the app’s features.

13. Other terms

These terms are the full agreement between you and us.

If any part of this agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest still applies.

We may transfer our rights or responsibilities under these terms to another organisation (for example, if 28X becomes part of another company).

By using the app, you agree to receive electronic notices from us, like in-app messages or emails.

If you’re a California resident and have an unresolved complaint, you can contact the California Department of Consumer Affairs.

You agree not to use the app if you’re in a country subject to U.S. sanctions or on a U.S. government restricted list. You also agree not to use VPNs, bots or other tools to access the app in places where it’s not legally available.

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, please note that those platforms aren’t responsible for the app’s content, performance or support. However, they may enforce these terms as third-party beneficiaries, meaning they can act to support these terms if needed.

14. Jurisdiction and governing law

If you are a resident of any European Union country or the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway or Iceland, the governing law and forum shall be the laws and courts of your usual place of residence. Please contact us to resolve issues directly in the first instance.  .

The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods doesn’t apply to this app or these terms.
